Ground Slabs

Ground slabs are slabs of reinforced concrete which allow the weight of floors or roofs to be distributed safely. Within a basement, ensuring that ground slabs are of the right depth is essential in order for the basement to withstand the pressure placed upon it.

Within a 4Site construction, ground slabs are either poured directly into trenches or into formwork. These slabs are suitable for use within both single level basements and multi-level basement constructions. The ground slabs themselves are typically only about 150mm to 300mm in depth.

However, these slabs are positioned between supporting structures, and the load placed on top of them is then transferred to these supports. There are various mechanisms for the slabs to be supported including continuous support or with the use of cantilevers, and 4Site will determine the most appropriate method for your basement development.
