Piling

What is Piling?

Piling creates deeps foundations which act as the necessary support for all types of construction work.

The process is used to transfer loads to much deeper levels than than normally achieved through traditional strip foundations. The purpose of a pile is to travel through weak, compressible strata or water onto stronger, more compact soil or rock. The result is a much stronger foundation which has a greater resistance to horizontal loads.

Why is piling necessary within a basement?

Basement construction involves very specific requirements in terms of structural and architectural engineering and as such piled foundations and indeed piled walls provide the most cost effective working barrier during your basements construction. The effective installation of contiguous piled walls also offer the very best in structural integrity to your home and any neighbouring properties. Bearing piles can also be used in a permanent or temporary scenario and are proven to be one of the best forms of structural support.
